We stay together because we are sisters. We have been together our entire lives.  We were adopted as young puppies.  Missy at 6 weeks old and Lady Kate at 12 weeks old.  They say we are about 10 years old now.   We love each other and are very dependent on each other.  We really do need each other.  We have been through extremely tough times and having each other is what helped us to pull through. We are inseparable.

We are called "The Orange Street Girls" or just "The Girls".  We prefer "The Girls" because we are really happy we moved off of Orange Street.  There we were living in an 820 sq. ft. house with our former mom and well over 100 cats.  It wasn't the nicest of accommodations.  Food was in short supply.  The fleas and flies were abundant.   The place was cramped, filthy, cold in the winter, hot in the summer and it smelled so bad that the neighbors called the authorities complaining about the stench.  Our house was in such a terrible state that the Department of Building and Codes determined it was dangerously unstable.  They evicted all of us and scheduled the house for demolition.  Our former mom packed us girls up in her car, along with 14 cats and headed out to safety.  We lived for a few weeks in a car with our former mom, while the cats took shelter in boxes under a trailer.  Nice people reached out to help and got us into what they call a rescue.

At first we were very shy and scared.  We lost our home and our mom.  We didn't know what was happening to us.  Our heads hung low, our tails were stuck between our legs and we were sad.  We are happy to say those days are gone.  Now we are so grateful to be in a rescue.  Our heads are high, are tails are constantly wagging and our tongues never stop kissing.  People who see us now say that they see two totally different dogs.  I've heard us referred to as "those poor girls", although we sure feel rich now.

Rescue people are nice.  They took us to a veterinarian. We had baths and medication to get rid of those horrible biting bugs that were causing our skin to itch and bleed.  After spending a few days in the hospital, we are now in what is called a foster home.  We love it here.  Our foster mom loves us too.  She says that we are real angels.   We have excellent house manners.  We get along with everyone: dogs, cats and people; although given our age, we might be best placed with only adult people.  We are housebroken.  We only had one accident since we arrived in our foster home. Our foster mom says that's amazing considering where we came from.  We are quiet.  We only bark when someone comes to the door or our foster sisters start to bark ... then let the singing begin.  We have great voices, you know.  We are very easy to care for.  A bowl of food, a soft bed and some love ... that's all we need. We are looking for a place where we can spend our retirement years together.  Our foster mom says that whoever is lucky enough to adopt us will be blessed for life.
