In a million years, I never expected to see my face on an adoption flyer! After all, my Mama took me in from the great outdoors, when someone dropped me off on her doorstep. She took care of me and made sure I had plenty to eat. Mama kept me indoors where Lucky and I spent our time stretched out on the back of the couch, nibbling on tasty bits of kibble and stalking birds at the window. And she took such good care of me, nobody ever guessed that I might have Feline AIDS. But I do. But know what? I’m just as healthy and sweet as any other cat.

Over the past year, Mama’s health became everyone’s concern. She was diagnosed with cancer, and it really got the better of her. Everyone in the house was crying when she came back from her most recent doctor’s visit, and soon after, a volunteer from The Animal Support Project  came to take Lucky & me away to foster care. Mama cried when we left and I was petrified as brother put me into my travel crate. I had no idea what was happening. But Mama just told Lucky and me to be brave and that everything would be ok. She said we all have to be strong now and look to others to help us get settled again.

When I got my vaccinations and it was discovered that I have FIV, Miss Diane stepped forward to give me a foster home where other FIV foster cats live. She gave me my distinguished name, but most of the time she just calls me, “Artie.” She likes my crazy mixture of black and white toes, and she says I’m a very cool cat. I like it here a lot, but if I could have a home of my own again with a couch where I could lie in the sun, that would be my wish.

Do you have a couch with a sunny spot for a pretty tuxedo cat with black and white toes?       If you’d like to meet me, just give a call and ask for Artie. 518-727-8591
